This Slideshow module is basically a Joomla! module version of JonDesign's Smooth Slideshow script. The script uses Mootools to dynamically load images and fade between them in a configurable fashion. It also supports links and text descriptions that slide up after the images has loaded.
Installation
You can see this module in action on this page. It's very easy to implement this module, all you do is install the module via the module installer in Joomla! and publish it in your desired module position. You then configure the module as you need. This demo uses the configuration as shown in the image on the right.
Configuration
- Set "Show Title" to No
- Choose inset for the "Position"
- Set the "Width" to 430. This value is required
- Set the "Height" to 170. This value is required
- Set the "Duration" to 9000. This is the time the images display for in ms
- Set the "Transition Speed" to 700. This is the time it takes to cross-fade between the images
- Type in the relative pathname to your images directory in the "Images Directory" text field. In this case we are using some sample images from sxc.hu and we've dropped them in images/stories/sports/ inside the Joomla! directory
- Set the "Include Mootools JS Library" to No. Mootools is already being loaded by the template for other features such as Slimbox, so it's not needed in Sporticus
Images and Descriptions
This script reads images from the directory chosen and rotates between them. The order is alphabetical, so to change the order, simply rename your files so that they are in the order you want. The other neat feature about this module is that if there is a filename with the same name as the image, in the correct format, it will be used to display a title, description, and also make the image clickable with a url.
The format for this file is:
TITLE
URL
DESCRIPTION
an example used in this demo is:
Team RocketTheme Leads the Pack
http://www.rockettheme.com
Once more this unstoppable teams takes the yellow jersey
and wins the Tour De France for the 3rd time in a row.
The images/stories/sports directory used in this demo looks like this:
